SHAUNA BASIUK
Flute | Piano
ArtDip (Mus) | BMus

Described as “an incredibly gifted and inspiring teacher” (Jeremy Trupp; Dean, The Conservatory School, Royal Conservatory of Music), Shauna Basiuk; B.Mus, Art.Dip.Mus, is a creative and patient educator who celebrates the unique learning style of each student. Through piano and flute lessons, she teaches the skills needed to develop music literacy (note-reading, theory, listening, music history), as well as creative problem solving and self-expression. Younger students can expect games, songs, colouring, and even movement as part of their lesson - as well as lots of laughter! Student accomplishments include winning RCM medals, excelling in Trinity exams, competing as finalists in the Butterfield Young Artist of the Year competition, and pursuing music at the University level, amongst many other exam and festival successes.
Fascinated by the benefits of music for neurodevelopment, Shauna is currently completing her training to become an accredited Kindermusik teacher for all ages, from newborns to pre-kindergarten. She has also completed Orff Level 1 training (with distinction), and taught a study on music and brain development for children aged 4 and 5 through York University and the Royal Conservatory of Music.
Shauna is also a captivating performer who is equally at home as both a flute soloist and orchestral musician. Praised for her expressive tone colours that morph from dark chocolate to ethereal, she has performed around the globe, including such countries as Bermuda, Canada, China, Germany, the Netherlands, Scotland, the United States, and as Co - Principal flute of the Cayman National Orchestra.
In her spare time, she enjoys writing, painting, diving and underwater photography.
